A Koi and a Girl

This is another rework of an older piece (posted below). It's December so Christmas is coming on. I really am not a big Christmas person but thought there was something appropriate about this for the season although, the Fish and hole in the ice are not really very typical of these sorts of pictures. I got a feeling of Scandinavia and Japan doing this one. As far apart as they are I think there are some similarities in the cultures, strange as it may sound.

This is a rework of an older sketch I did. Iliked the basic idea of the older one but felt it needed to be pushed much further....I added a few elements and brightened it up a bit.

The Skinny Girl and the Fish Having A Conversation About Geometry

This started out as something completely different. During the course of doing it I read an article about communication between humans and animals and well, it sort of crept into the illustration I was doing. It started as a drawing for Illustration Friday, the theme word being "Skinny"...Well, I still managed to get "skinny" in there.

Table Design

I recently moved into a furnished flat in Barcelona. It came with a very boring white IKEA table that is depressingly sterile so, I am going to paint it to give it a little life. This is one of the designs I'm thinking of doing on it. The table is 120x60cm

The Experiment (film)

This is a design (photoshop) I did for a mural painted (by Nancy Munford and Myself) for a Danish feature film this summer. The film takes place in a Danish orphanage in Greenland during the 1950's. The Danish govt. was experimenting with indoctrination techniques on the children. The mural was meant to serve as Danish propaganda. The scenery in the mural is based on the Greenlandic landscape and villages of the 1950's. The film is based on a true story.

Its been a long time since Ive posted. Ive been in Denmark working on two films and then changing apartments in Barcelona...too busy! Now Im going to try to get back into the illustrations. This is a last minute one for this weeks Illustration Friday. The topic/word this week...Germs.

Tickle Aliens

These are some rough character sketches for a children's book I'm working on with a friend ( he writes, I draw). These aliens need laughter for survival so, they have evolved into very good ticklers and earth seems to have many ticklish people , the perfect energy source.
Ive never done much cartooning but I'm enjoying doing these. I'm finding it's affecting my mood to do these... in a very good way.

I did this after listening to a lot of jazz and looking at old Blue Note album covers, which probably shows.
